Is it art?

Today I was online looking at different photos and was studying ABSTRACT ART!. You know the
dramatic colors all fine tuned and wrapped around various shapes and modules. I got to thinking about
the concept of light and how it plays it's roles in how we visualize color.

When photographers shoot these types of pictures what are they actually trying to capture?

The colors
The shape
changing affects
light and density
well do me a favor and give me your opinion on this matter.
